So I've already hit a wall in my efforts to prepare for nanowrimo. I began writing my outline for "Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe" but I can't even bang out a descent summary for chapter one. And the more I think about what I want to happen in the story, the more I feel I'm completely ripping off both Red Dwarf and Firefly (two of my all time favorite Sci-Fi series, not including Star Trek: The Next Generation).
To make matters worse (which is exactly what I need right now), I've stumbled upon 2 more story ideas that I've been wanting to write in the past:
"Brown Taint Maple": A story about a disturbed girl who is forced into a boarding school. She becomes unusually attached to a maple tree just outside the school grounds and the tree begins to reflect her mental state. As the seasons change from spring to summer to fall to winter, she begins to degrade along with the tree.
"Red": A detective/hooker/mobster story about a prostitute who aids a detective in bringing down an influential and dangerous mob ring led by a dude named Jimmy the Finger. Basically I would love to use this story to mock the well known detective story/film noir genre.
So, in total, that makes about...1, 2....3....alot of story choices. Ladies and gentlemen, here are the nominees for potential nanowrimo stories:
1. Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe
2. Silent Hill: Room of Angel
3. Scotia's Place
4. Jay Lowe & High: Mover of the Stars
5. Brown Taint Maple
6. Red

You had that last line in a perfect spot. Just at the point where I was about to scroll down, so I really believed you had decided!
I think Brown Taint Maple is an awesome idea. Reminds me of the tree we used to hang around in elementry school with Sarah.
charlotte? i believe that was the name of the tree at inglewood. at grand bay elementary it was duke and shirley. lol we were so weird. maybe i'll have the main character name it and everything.
knowing me i won't decide until halfway through the month and then work my ass off to finish it up! o.O
